Black Thoughts

In light of the onslaught of present racial matters, racial consciousness has reared its head again. However, the reality is that racial-consciousness never disappeared. It played the age old trick of convincing people that it no longer existed. My father always told me that the enemies greatest ability is to convince others to believe it doesn’t exists.

Race issues never disappeared, they were just covered with new skin and effectuated through different mechanisms. Race consciousness seemed to take dissipitate because of Black people taking on more traditional white roles, acquiring more leadership positions in political and corporate sectors, and, obviously, solidifying presence in the White House with the election of a Black President. However, none of these incidents have proven that race has become less of a factor in American culture. We are still in a land of Black first and the first Black president receives more public flack and disrespect than any president of my time.
